Unique and Unexpected Easter BBQ Recipes to Try This Year

This year Easter is going to look different than years past. Unfortunately, the packed churches, family gatherings, and traditions will have to be sacrificed during our self-isolation and quarantine. However, that doesn’t mean the celebration stops. Easter Sunday still represents a time of renewal, appreciation, and family. So while it might not look the same, we can still have a great time. And because we might not have all the ingredients for a traditional Easter meal, we may need to improvise a bit. Here are some Easter BBQ recipes you might want to try this year.

1. Light Easter Appetizers

Easter BBQ recipes - BBQ shrimp salad

The Caprese Appetizer is a fun, miniature take on the Italian Caprese Salad. It’s a light, delicious addition to any barbecue, and it can be prepared in very little time.

Likewise, a Barbecue Shrimp and Avocado Salad can add a lighter protein to traditional BBQ fare. This is a simple and easy dish to put together but still packs the yum. If you can’t get avocados, try romaine lettuce with hard-boiled eggs,  corn, and bacon.

2. BBQ Burgers for Easter

Can’t get ahold of an entire ham or frankly just don’t have enough people to eat it? Burgers are a great way to fix that problem. The possibilities are endless for new and interesting burger combinations on Easter. You can indulge in a semi-traditional Barbecued Brisket Burger or a French Fries and Coleslaw Burger. Perhaps a Toasted Ravioli with Marinara Burger or a Lump Crab and Cocktail Sauce Burger will get your attention.

3. An Easter Cocktail

Well, it wouldn’t be quarantine without a refreshing beverage. Best part? No designated driver needed. Served in mason jars, the Blackberry Bramble is fun and fruity. Featuring gin, lemon, and fresh blackberries (if you can get them), the sweet berry flavor also pairs well with your favorite BBQ sauce.

4. Sweeten the Day with Dessert

Many kids can’t wait for the Easter egg hunt or candy in their baskets. If that isn’t in the cards today, that is okay. Here are some great simple desserts that are sure to sweeten the deal:

  • Carrot Cake Bread – It’s not cake, it’s not bread, it both! It’s not a large portion but just right to enjoy with the family.
  • Banana Pudding Bars – Need a quick dessert that is sure to be a hit? This one is simple, delicious and can be made ahead of time.
  • Peepsie Treats – We always have tons of peeps around Easter, here is a great way to use them in this take on Rice Krispy treats.
