Bonfire, Beer & BBQ – A Perfect Fall Trio
Just as the pumpkin spice latte folk get crazy about fall, we do too – but for very different reasons. It’s not the pumpkin spice that gets us excited. Fall brings the perfect weather for a bonfire, beer, and BBQ. Although we do these all year long, fall just has a different feel to it. Maybe it’s the crispness in the air. Maybe it’s that we aren’t dying of heat next to the fire. Or maybe it’s enjoying craft beer and BBQ without all the mosquitos. Whatever it is, it is our perfect fall trio. So, let’s talk about how to bring it to the next level.
Bonfire Basics
Bonfires seem simple enough. Wood, fire, pit. Yes and no. You still want to make sure everyone is comfortable. To make sure you don’t miss anything, we put together a simple checklist.
- Seating – Consider hay with blankets or benches around the fire pit.
- Music – Grab outdoor speakers and have some great tunes playing in the background.
- Treats – Have to have the classic s’mores but don’t forget some sticks (or buy some).
- Hot Drinks – It’s great for the kids and cold nights to have hot chocolate or cider on hand.
It shouldn’t be said, but also don’t forget the wood. It might make you laugh but you do want to make sure you can keep the fire going. In addition, if your fire pit is far from the house, consider lighting the path so people don’t get hurt. Do you know what you don’t need? Bug spray!
Cheers to the Beers
Put the ‘bar’ in barbecue with seasonal craft beers. There are so many Maryland breweries that have amazing fall beers you can try. Or best yet, make it BYOB and have everyone pick their favorite craft/seasonal brew. Here is a list of Maryland Breweries you can find at most local wine and beer stores. Check out their websites for seasonal beer listings and availability.
- Brewer’s Art
- DuClaw
- Evolution
- Flying Dog
- Fordham
- Heavy Seas
- Key Brewing
- Jailbreak
- Manor Hill
- Oliver’s
- RAR
- True Respite
- Union
Pull out the cornhole boards too, while you at it. There is just something about a crisp autumn day, cornhole, and a beer in hand you can’t beat. Oh, well, you could add some BBQ.
Bring the BBQ
Nothing rounds out a bonfire, and some beer, without the quintessential fall food, BBQ. Now, BBQ is also great in summer, and winter, and spring… really there isn’t a bad time for BBQ. However, there is a perfect time. And that is fall. Standing over the grill doesn’t feel like the next level of hell, like in Maryland summers. And you also don’t have to worry about sweating off bug spray around the food. In addition, the hot BBQ side dishes, like mac n cheese, or corn on the cob is welcome.
Although, there is another solution to your BBQ needs. Chad’s also offers family meals and catering to-go. Instead of spending the time cooking, you can sit back and relax, and just pick up the food from us! We offer pulled pork, chicken, baby back ribs, and smoked kielbasa with a choice of sides. You can order pork and beans, collard greens, coleslaw, or mac n cheese. Fun fact: we also offer our customer favorite banana pudding in half and full pans. Maybe we should now make it bonfire, beers, BBQ, and banana pudding… yum.
