How to Use BBQ Sauce in Really Innovative Ways
May might have been National BBQ Month, but we are celebrating it all year long! And just when we thought that BBQ-infused cocktails were awesome, we have found some recipes that used BBQ sauce in new ways! So, put on some throwback tunes and let’s check out these innovative ways to use BBQ sauce.
Barbeque Chicken Pizza
Okay, we know this isn’t exactly a new thing. Actually, even though it is very popular now, it has actually been around since the 80s. We still want to include this in our list, because it was a great ode to thinking outside the box when it comes to BBQ. Some great ways to mix up standard BBQ Chicken Pizza recipes is to use alternatives to mozzarella. Try a smoked gouda, fontina, or event sharp cheddar. Better yet, a combination of any of those would be yummy. We recommend trying it with our Sweet & Tangy BBQ sauce. Also, consider grilling the entire pizza. It doesn’t get more BBQ than that!
Use it on Your Salad
Again, probably not the craziest way to use BBQ (don’t worry we are getting there!) but it isn’t traditional. Especially if you try it with our Honey Jalapeno Everything sauce. Drizzling this over a salad, with some ranch or blue cheese dressing can really give it some kick! The ranch dressing also helps tame the spiciness. So if you like it hot, go lite on the dressing and more with the sauce. We recommend a chicken or steak salad to really make the taste of BBQ go far.
Create a Chocolate Sauce
Wait, BBQ and chocolate? Yup! It’s actually not an unheard of combination. Chili peppers have been mixed into cocoa as far back as the Olmec, Mayan and Aztec civilizations. And it doesn’t just stop as a sauce either. You can incorporate BBQ sauce in chocolate cupcakes. According to The Dormestic Goddess, you can also make a simple barbeque chocolate ganache to drizzle on top. We don’t know about you, but it sounds amazing. Sign us up!
A BBQ Side of Carrots
While we have come across some strange recipes, this one might take the cake. The Kitchn had an awesome recipe for stewed carrots with BBQ sauce. While we don’t agree that stewed carrots will replace pulled pork (because it’s pulled pork y’all) we do agree this is an innovative way to use BBQ sauce. If anything, it might be a great way to get those kids to eat their veggies!
Use BBQ Sauce in Cookies?!
Spice up your dessert with this cool take on sugar cookies. The taste is not as overwhelming as you might think. We recommend our Sweet & Tangy sauce if you want to attempt these yummy delights. Don’t tell your friends and see if they can guess the secret ingredient!
